Not long ago, the Launching Ceremony for 100 Electric Buses and the Annual Promotion Activities for Integration of Urban-rural Public Transportation were held in Haimen district, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. At this ceremony, the Yinlong Dolphin Buses and Vintage Dangdang Buses, with their stylish appearance and safe and reliable performance, were officially put into operation in Haimen. They offer a safe and comfortable way of traveling that is also green and environmentally-friendly, injecting vigor to the integration of urban-rural public transportation in Haimen.

To Lay the Foundation for Integration of Urban-Rural Public Transportation in Haimen

Situated next to the Yellow Sea to its east and bordering on the Yangtze River to its south, Haimen is separated from Shanghai by a body of water and enjoys the reputation of being “the northern Shanghai”. It was given several titles such as the “Township of Science and Technology”, “National Ecological Demonstration Area” and “2019 National Top 100 Towns and Cities for Green Development”. In 2020, Haimen was selected into the first batch of pilot towns(cities, districts) for Urban-rural Bus Integration. By introducing electric buses into the area and developing urban-rural bus routes, it provides citizens with a safer and more convenient public transportation service that is also more economical and more efficient.

At the launching ceremony, Shen Yudong, the deputy secretary of district committee and district mayor of Haimen, pointed out that it’s important to quickly make up for the shortage in the integration of urban-rural public transportation and build a service system for an integration that “connects urban and rural area, features convenience and efficiency, offers intelligence and safety, provides convenience and benefit”. He also stressed the importance of adhering to the people-oriented approach, speeding up the innovation of new form of public transportation service, and making “Haimen Public Transportation” a moving name card for Haimen. He suggested that Haimen highlight its special strengths and actively build an exemplary public transportation to gain people’s satisfaction and fulfillment at public transportation service. 

The buses that were delivered to Haimen this time include the 12-meter dolphin bus, 10.8-meter dolphin bus, 10.5-meter vintage Dangdang bus and 8.5-meter vintage Dangdang bus, all purchased from Yinlong. These different models of buses allow for different combinations for bus operation at specific routes, and thus meet different operation needs in urban and rural area. They not only help promote integrative development between urban and rural area, but also lay the foundation for the saving energy and reducing emission in urban area, for building a better urban environment, and for strengthening the integration of urban-rural public transportation. Take the Dolphin bus as an example. Instead of taking the square-headed shape of traditional buses, it has adopted the large streamline design that can effectively reduce wind resistance, while acquiring flexibility, liveliness, and elegance, features that echo the characteristics of Haimen as a “Township of Science and Technology”. The Dolphin bus has an interior design that features low-floor, large capacity, and wide passage, enabling the bus to take in large number of passengers. It has a comfortable passenger space thanks to its built-in push and pull window with colorless tempered glass, bright-colored seats, and reasonable interior layout.    

Promoting Green Development in Public Transportation   

“Invest big in protecting environment instead of developing lands, explore new ways of prioritizing ecology and achieving green development.”

In October 2020, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation said that with the goal of building a green transportation system, it will focus on promoting the construction of green ecological transportation infrastructure and advocating green travel for the citizens, and strive to improve the comprehensive ability of the transportation industry to achieve low-carbon transformation, so as to provide a strong guarantee for the construction of a beautiful Jiangsu and a strong transportation province.

To develop green development, we should support it with technological innovation, to regulate it with technical standards and promote it with technological service. As a socially responsible enterprise, Yinlong has promoting green transportation development as one of its goals.
